Abstract

PURPOSE: To further enhance denitrification capability by preventing as much as possible the extinction of hydroxy radical in the NH3/H2O2 process by the method in which in reducing NOx by the addition of NH3 and H2 O2 to a NOx-containing gas, the addition of H2O2 is made synchronously with or after the addition of NH3.
CONSTITUTION: The reduction of NOx to N2 is made by providing the NH3 injection nozzle 3 at a position above the position of the H2O2 injection nozzle 4 against the flow 2 of a NOx-containing gas to be supplied to the duct 1. And, in case where the diffusion of the NOx-containing gas is sufficient, the nozzle 3 and the nozzle 4 may be located at the same position in correspondence with the flow of gas. The preferred temperature for the reduction of the NOx-containing gas is more than 400°C, most preferably 500 to 1200°C. And, the NH3/NOx molar ratio which is essential for the effective reduction treatment of NOx is approx. 0.3 to 1.0, and also the H2O2/NH3 molar ratio is 0.3 to 10 approximately
