Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain insulated wires with excellent electrical characteristics and mechanical strength by extrusion-coating foaming polyolefin material on a core through an adhesive layer, keeping the temperature of the core high, high-foaming the core section, and coating a non-foaming layer around it. CONSTITUTION:The foaming polyolefin material containing volatile liquid is extrusion-coated on a core through an adhesive layer and the temperature of the core is kept high until foaming is completed. A high-foaming insulation layer is formed on the core side and a non-foaming layer is coated around it. For example, after the 0.1 mm thick low density polyethylene is coated on the core of 2.3 mm in diameter as the adhesive layer, it is preheated at 80 deg.C. High foaming polyethylene containing 4.8 weight percentage of tetrafluorodichloethane is extrusion-coated on it as an foaming agent and it is foamed while it is passed through a sizing die of 10 mm in inside diameter which is kept at 20 deg.C. Then, immediately after it is passed through the sizing die, non-foaming polyolefin of 0.3 mm in thickness is coated and insulated wires are obtained.
