Abstract
PURPOSE: To prolong the life of a lamp with low power consumption, by using a transparent glass plate as a substitute for a low-voltage power supply and color correcting filter in case of a black-and-white original.
CONSTITUTION: Light from light source 2 is reflected by black-and white original 9 via transparent glass plate 10, and then passes through glass plate 10 again and reaches photo detector 6 via aperture 3. In case of a color original, glass plate 10 is extracted in the arrow direction and replaced with color correcting filter-glass plate 11, and lamp 2 is switched from low-tension black-and-white power supply 12 to high-tension color power supply 13. Consequently, the power consumption of a light-source lamp can be reduced in case of a black-and-white original which is high in frequency of use, so that the life of the lamp can be prolonged
