Abstract
PURPOSE:To carry out the rolling work at high thermal efficiency, by measuring the temperature of ingot after blooming work, and by directly feeding the ingot into the roughing process according to the previously settled temperature condition, or by sending the ingot to the reheating furnace or recuperative furnace. CONSTITUTION:The hot ingot is taken out of the unillustrated soaking furnace, and is rolled into a specified size by the blooming mill 1, and then, is cut 6 into billets of a specified length. After that, the billet once stops at the table block 7c, and the temperature of billet is measured by the billet temperature detector 8. Then, the actually measured temperature value is inputted to the billet temperature discriminator 10, and is compared with the input sent from the memory 9; according to the result of this comparison, when the actually measured temperature is, for instance, higher than the temperature range allowable for direct feeding of that billet, the billet is fed to the roughing mill 2 by the table block 7c. Whereas, if the actually measured temperature is lower than the temperature range allowable for direct feeding of billet, and is within the reheat temperature range, the billet is inserted into the reheating furnace 12. If the actually measured temperature is in the middle zone between the temperature range allowable for direct feeding of billet and the reheat temperature range, the billet is inserted into the recuperative furnace and is soaked up to the temperature allowable for rolling work.
