Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a fuel injection system in which fuel injection is effected in distinct and separate manner by closing a needle valve by use of compression spring together with released high-pressure fuel, whereby fuel injection near the operational range of idling can be stabilized and knocking of engine can be prevented.
CONSTITUTION: At the end of fuel injection, spill groove 18 is communicated to high-pressure fuel return conduit 43, so that high-pressure fuel in pumping chamber 20 is released via high-pressure fuel releasing conduit 40 to return conduit. Here, by the function of restriction 42, high-pressure fuel released to the conduit 40 is delivered to spring chamber 22 via high-pressure fuel introducing conduit 43. Needle valve 30, on the other hand, is urged onto valve seat 29 by the force of compression spring 32 and also by the pressure of the released high-pressure fuel, so that injection of high-pressure fuel is effected in distinct and separate manner
