Abstract
PURPOSE: Drawn and unsintered formed products of polyetetrafluoroethylene is impregnated with an organic solvent into fine pores and then the organic solvent is removed by evaporation, thereby producing title porous material with pores of controlled diameter and reduced deviation in the diameter.
CONSTITUTION: Formed products such as rod, tube or film of unsintered polytetrafluoroethylene that are produced by compression, extrusion or cutting are drawn mono- or polyaxially to prepare drawn products with innumerable pores. The draw ratio is desirably 10% or higher because lower than 10% ratio forms secarcely fine pores. The resulting drawn products are brought into contact with an organic solvent by dipping, spraying or coating and the pores are filled with the organic solvent. Then the product is kept under such conditions that the product can shrink to original dimesion and the organic solvent is removed by evaporation
