Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the generation of accidents due to the damages of heat insulating pipes while prolonging the durable life, by passing water into the heat insulating pipes at a lower portion of a skirt in a converter exhaust gas combustible gas recovery device by atomizing water while using compressed air as a carrier. CONSTITUTION:A skirt 3 is mounted to an upper portion of an opening portion 4 at an upper portion of a converter 1 to revover combustible gas. In this case, heat insulating pipes 2 are installed to a lower portion of the skirt 3 in order to kreduce the combustion rate of combustible gas at a furnace port of the converter. The heat insulating pipes are produced insuch a manner that a castable coating portion 7 is mounted to the outer circumferences of a plurality of pressure resisting pipes 6 or a smooth portion 9 is installed to the inside of the furnace of a plurality of half pressure resisting pipes 8. Compressed air with approx. 5kg/mm<2> pressure and water are fed into the pressure resisting pipes 6, 8, water is passed through the pressure resisting pipes 6, 8 by atomizing water, and the heat insulating pipes 2 at the lower portion are cooled by the change of atomized water into steam. Since cooling water drops into the converter even if the heat insulating pipes 2 are drilled by contact with base metal accumulated portions 5, there is no danger causing explosion accidents.
