Abstract

PURPOSE: To accomplish the removal of cleaning inert gases and the filling of a bulb with packing inert gases in a short time through the introduction of the packing inert gases thereinto with some of the cleaning inert gases left therein after the introduction of the cleaning inert gases thereinto through one side thereof together with the discharge of the same gases out of the bulb through the other side thereof.
CONSTITUTION: A cleaning inert gas such as Ar is introduced into a bulb through one exhaust pipe under a proper pressure, while continuously being discharged out through the other exhaust pipe. A inert gases mainly composed of Kr are introduced into the bulb through the first exhaust pipe with some of the cleaning gas left therein. Simultaneously, the gases thus mixed are discharged to a vacuum system through the other exhaust pipe. When the pressure of the inert gases in the bulb reaches a specified value, 1-3 mm Hg for example, each exhaust pipe is sealed up. In this manner, the inside of the bulb can be cleaned without a high vacuum, thus producing an energy-saving type fluorescent lamp with a better working property at a lower cost
