Abstract

PURPOSE: To clean a large number of spinnerets used for melt spinning at a time without damaging the spinneret material at a relatively low temperature, by cleaning the spinnerets with a specific glycol as a solvent.
CONSTITUTION: Spinnerets used for melt spinning are cleaned with a glycol expressed by formula HO(C2H4O)nH (n≥4) as a solvent at 290W350°C. Tetraethylene, octaethylene, hexaethylene glycols, etc. may be preferably used as the solvent. The cleaning temperature is preferably near 290°C from the viewpoint of the protection of the spinneret material. The deterioration of organopolysiloxane used for adjusting the spinneret surface is accelerated above 290°C
