Abstract

PURPOSE:To enhance the effective intensity of an excited light and the S/N sensitivity and to improve the metering efficiency by returning the excited light having passed through a detecting cell into a sample with the use of a concave reflecting mirror so that the fluorescent light irradiated may be reflected to a condensing lens by means of a condensing concave reflecting mirror. CONSTITUTION:A sample liquid 0 flowing through a detecting cell 1 is irradiated with an excited light, which is condensed by a condensing lens system 2, so that the energy condition of a substance the density of which is to be detected may be excited. The fluorescent light intrinsic to the substance, which is irradiated when transition takes place from the excited condition to a base condition, is condensed by a condensing lens system 3 so as to meter the density of the substance. A concave reflecting mirror 4 is arranged to face the condensing lens system 2 of the irradiating light so that the excited light having passed through the cell 1 may be reflected at 4 again into the cell 1. By means of a condensing reflecting mirror 5 which is arranged to face the condensing lens system 3, the fluorescent light intrinsic to the substance in the sample is reflected to the lens system 3. Thus, it is possible to increase the intensity of the excited light and the condensing efficiency of the fluorescent light.
