Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide the subject unit wherein, when the thyristor is in trouble, the control lag angle of the thyristor inverter is delayed to continuously drive the system, thereby to increase the reliability of the system.
CONSTITUTION: In a thyristor inverter in which thyristors 31 through 36 are connected respectively in series to diodes 51 through 56, deterioration of the thyristors is detected by an element trouble detector, and the control lag angle is shifted to a preset value by the detected signal. In this construction a fault current at the time of arm short -circuiting decrease with the increase in the control lag angle α. By noticing this point, when the thyristor has been deteriorated, it is immediately detectedby the element trouble detecting device, and its signal is received and the control lag angle α of the inverter is delayed to a preset value and driving is continued to stop to repair the inverter at a suitable period of time
