Abstract

PURPOSE: To bond metal to rubber with improved adhesion and little oxidation deterioration, by vulcanizing a rubber composition comprising rubber, cobalt acetylacetonate, and a vulcanizing agent in contact with a metal.
CONSTITUTION: (A) 100 parts by wt, of a rubber is incorporated with (B) 0.01W1 part by wt., preferably 0.1W0.5 part by wt. calculated as cobalt of cobalt acetylacetonate and (C) 0.5W10 parts by wt. of a vulcanizing agent to give a rubber composition. The rubber composition is brought into contact with a metal and vulcanized. Natural, polyisoprene, polybutadiene, styrene-butadiene copolymer rubbers, etc. may be cited as the rubber. Cobalt (II), cobalt (III) actylacetonates, etc. may be cited as the cobalt acetylacetonate.
