Abstract

PURPOSE: To eliminate undesirable air current from a space between a bowl having a conical and a casing surrounding the bowl in a screw decanter type centrifugal separator.
CONSTITUTION: On the part of the joint portion of a cylindrical section 1a of a bowl l and a conical section 1b thereof, which is on the side of a liquid discharge chamber 19, an annular projection 28 is formed. On the part of the above-mentioned joint portion which is on the side of a solid discharge chamber 18, axial-flow vanes 42 are fixed. The vanes 42 are formed at regular intervals in the radial direction on the circumferential surface of an annular body 41 fixed to the bowl 1. A partition 20 are provided ina gap 43 between the annular projection 28 and vanes 42 as the partition 20 is slightly spaced from the projection 28 and vanes 42. Owing to the vanes 42, air current occurs, which flows from the liquid discharge chamber 19 into the solid discharge chamber 18. Then, air current which occurs in this type of separator having no vanes 42 can be prevented
