Abstract

PURPOSE:To convert a low-energy phosphate which is a by-product of a biological process for converting a precursor of the corresponding phosphorylated compound by reacting with a high-energy phosphate, to the corresponing high-energy phosphate by conducting the above process in the presence of specific microorganisms or their treated product. CONSTITUTION:A phosphorylation reaction is conducted in the presence of (A) microorganisms which can produce objective phosphorylated compound from the corresponding precursor and a high-energy phosphate, and (B) microorganisms which can not only produce a high-energy phosphate from a energy source and a phosphoric acid donor, but also convert the low-energy phosphate to the high-energy phosphate. For example, nicotinamide adeninedinucleotide (NAD) can be phosphorylated using Brevibacterium ammoniagenes (ATCC 6872) as (A) and Saccharomyces cerevisiae (ATCC 15248) as (B).
