Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain a stabilized storable and transportable glycinonitrile while preventing the discoloration and deterioration, by bringing glycinonitrile into contact with an alkali sulfite or acid sulfite at ordinary temperature.
CONSTITUTION: An aqueous solution of glycinonitrile is stabilized by adding a small amount of an alkali metal sulfite or acid sulfite to it at ordinary temperature, perferably by passing the solution through a column packed with the granular sulfite or acid sulfite at a liquid space velocity (SV) of 0.5W10. NaHSO3, KHSO3, Na2SO3, K2SO3 etc. may be cited as the alkali metal sulfite or acid sulfite.
USE: Intermediate for glycine useful as food, feed additives, etc., or raw material for syntheses of medicines, pesticides, etc.
