CONSTITUTION: Unsaturated aldehydes and unsaturated carboxylic acids are prepared by the vapor phase oxidation of 3W4C saturated aldehydes with O2 at 280W 390°C in the presence of a catalyst which is a compound or mixture comprising oxides of zinc, copper or silver, Mo oxides and phosphorus compounds, supported on a calcined carrier having a specific surface area of at least 10m2/g.
