Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable the losses at the point of connection to be measured in a short time with high accuracy by simultaneously receiving the exit rays from a plurality of optical fibers in the same photo detector and detecting these by separating them to the signal outputs corresponding to the respective optical fibers.
CONSTITUTION: Arrangement is so made that the exit rays from a plurality of the fibers 1 to be measured may be simultaneously received in the same photo detector 4. Modulating oscillators 5 of the number corresponding to the number of respective light sources 3 are provided and the respective frequencies f1 thru fn thereof are selected at frequencies sufficiently lower than the cutoff frequency fc at which the modulation signals do not propagate, then the light may be propagated in each optical fiber 1 at losses about the same as those when no modulation is applied. Hence, the signal outputs having frequency components corresponding to the frequencies f1 thru fn of the respective fibers 1 may be separated and measured in a frequecny selecting receiver 6
