Abstract

PURPOSE: To accomplish a glass solidification of heavy metal sludge containing Cr at a low coat by a treatment at a high temperature employing hot oxidized scale generated in the iron (steel) making thus eliminating reductive atmosphere.
CONSTITUTION: A heavy metal sludge containing Cr is melted and solidified at 900 to 1,200°C in the air not in any reductive atmosphere employing a hot oxidized scale generated in the iron (steel) making, particularly in the continuous casting or hot rolling processes. With such a method, oxidized scale, an industrial waste, can be obtained cheaply thereby reducing the treatment cost noticeably.
