Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the responsiveness in high frequency range which had been unobtainable with conventional carbonfiber-contained diaphragms by depositing high elasticity resin on a specific diaphragm base mixed with carbon fibers then applying chemical plating treatment. CONSTITUTION:90 to 60wt% of carbon fibers of Young's modulus 3,000 to 15,000 kg/mm.<2>, 10 to 40wt% of pulp and 5 to 30%, based on the total weight, of polyvinyl alcohol fibers are mixed and the mixture is heat-molded to the diaphragm base. This diaphragm base is impregnated or coated with 1 to 10%, based on the weight of the diaphragm base, of high elasticity resin such as phenol formaldehyde resin, after which it is heat set. Next, films of a metal such as Ni are deposited at 10 to 40% of the weight of the diaphragm base between the respective fibers and on the entire fiber surface, preferably by electroless plating treatment.
