Abstract

NEW MATERIAL:Pyrrole derivatives of formulaI(R1, R2 are hydrocarbyl or heterocyclic residue that may be substituted; R4 is aryl, alkocarbonyl, cyano).
EXAMPLE: 2,3-Di-t-butylthio-5-phenylpyrrole.
USE: Starting material for synthesizing agricultural chemicals, medicines, and various kinds of chemicals, especially intermediate for known pyrrole derivatives.
PREPARATION: Tricyclopropenium salt of formula II (R3 is hydrocarbyl or heterocyclic residue that may be substituted; X⊖ is anion) is reacted with a primary amine of formula III to form the objective pyrrole derivative of formulaI. When the resulting compound is treated with hydrogen in the presence of a metal catalyst such as Raney nickel, -SR1 and -SR2 are eliminated to afford a inown pyrrole derivative.
