Abstract
PURPOSE: To improve the system reliability and reduce the battery capacity by coupling directly the generator with the rotating shaft of the cooling turbine.
CONSTITUTION: The generator is directly coupled with the rotating shaft of the cooling turbine 5 connecting with the change-over switch 9 of the power source system 6. Then, the excess steam within the core 1 is utilized during the reactor shutdown by rotating the cooling turbine 5 through the steam supply valve 3, dropping the core pressure, driving the pump 4, feeding the make-up water into the core 1 through the valve 2, further driving the generator 10, and utilizing the generated power by turning the change-over switch 9. This enables the unaided operation without use of the external power source during the operation of the cooling system for the reactor cooling to carry out independently, the battery 7 located in the plant enabling to reduce the capacity owing to the unnecessity of the power supply to the turbine accessories after change-over
