Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the display performance and to simplify the electrode terminal shape by controlling the drive pulses such that the effective value corresponds to the variation in the temperature and a main voltage while leaving the wave heiht invaried.
CONSTITUTION: A temperature detector 1 is equipped with a reference main power source composed of transistors 10 to 13 and 14 to 17 so as to generate a reference voltage VS1 having no temperature dependency, a main voltage and a reference voltage VS2 having reproducibility in accordance with the conductance ratio of transistors 14 and 15 by means of the transistors 10 and 11 having the same conductance. These voltage VS1 and VS2 are compared by an operational amplifier 37 and are fed to a drive control circuit 3 through a pulse width control circuit 2 which is composed of a shift resistor 41, a decoder and a gate circuit. Then, the duty cycle of the drive pulses is varied so as to generate the drive pulses having their effective value varied, while leaving the peak level constant, in accordance with the changes in the temperature and main voltage thereby to improve the liquid crystal display performance. According to the above construction, the circuit can be integrated moncyclically to simplify the electrode shape.
