Abstract

PURPOSE: To check the damage of and the deterioration in lifting capacity of a pump by means of a downward current passage section, across which a porous body is spread in the course of a passage adapted to pump a liquid reaching the top of an upward passage to the downward passage.
CONSTITUTION: A deaerator 14 is arranged in the course of a passage from an upward current passage B to a pump P. In the deaeration 14, a porous body 15 having small holes a is spread across a downward current passage section F so as to maximize the length of a radially horizontal current passage G for liquid thereon, while the body 15 is so constructed as to decrease and equalize the speed of the liquid flowing through the section F, thus checking the descent of bubbles together with the liquid. With such an arrangement, the separation and destruction of bubbles can be accomplished, thus preventing the deterioration in capacity of the pump
