Abstract

PURPOSE: Naphthalene oil is distilled under normal pressure in the forerun distilling column and the pressure distillation of the bottom is conducted by the use of the naphthalene distillation column wherein the heat of the top fraction is exchanged with the bottom fraction of the forerun distillation column followed by cooling, thereby producing 95% naphthalene.
CONSTITUTION: Naphthalene oil is heated to 180W220°C by passing through first preheater 4 and second perheater 4 and distilled under atmospheric pressure in the forerun distillation column. The light fraction is removed from the top and the bottom is heated with reboiler 8 and recycled to forerun distillation column 6. A part of the bottom fraction is fed into naphthalene distillation column 21 and distilled under pressurized conditions of 1W5kg/cm2, at 260W285°C on the top of the column. The top fraction is cut at the refluxing part and a side and taken out through lines 30 and 31 for using as heat source for second preheater 4. After cooled in the second preheater the top fraction becomes 95% naphthalene. A part of the bottom fraction heats naphthalene oil in first preheater 3 and is collected as heavy oil.
