Abstract

PURPOSE: Unoriented tubular form of polypropylene resin composition is subjected to simultaneous biaxial orientation and then heat treatment under relaxation, thereby producing titled polypropylene film with high oxidation resistance and anisotropy in thermal shrinkage.
CONSTITUTION: A polypropylene resin composition comprising 100 pats by wt of a high-crystallinity polypropyelen resin of 0.5W10 MI, 0.005W0.5 part of at least one anti-oxidant of hindered phenol and 0.005W0.1 part of at least one metal salt of stearic acid is melt extruded from a ring die and rapidly cooled to form an unoriented tubular form. The resulting form is biaxially oriented under such conditions that the both traverse and longitudinal orientation ratios are 6.5 or less and the longitudinal orientation ratio is always lower than the traverse one and then heat treated at a temperature of over 160°C but lower than the melting point of polypropylene under relaxation rates of over 8 and 10% in the longitudinal and traverse directions respectively wherein the ratio of these rates is kept over 1.2.
