Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the interpenetration of coating powder to a depression of an article, by coating the depression, preheated to a temperature ranging from the melt starting point of coating powder to the curing starting point, with the powder electrostatically.
CONSTITUTION: The depression of an article, e.g. metal or glass, is preheated locally at a temperature ranging from the melt starting point of thermosetting or thermoplastic coating powder to the curing starting point, and coated with the powder electrostatically.
EFFECT: Local preheating provides both thick coating and good coated surfaces due to the electrostaic repulsion by the reverse ionization phenomenon.
