Abstract

PURPOSE: To detect flat wear of wheels correctly by use of correlation, by means of a plurality of flat detectors disposed at intervals equal to the circumferential length of the wheels having the maximum diameter along the length of rail.
CONSTITUTION: A plurality of flat detectors 2aW2c are disposed at intervals equal to the circumferential length of wheels (n), (n+1) having the maximum diameter along the length of rail 1, and detectors 2e, 2d for detecting passing of wheels are disposed at the position of flat detector 2a which vehicle passes at first and at a position a little short of the position of detector 2a. In such an arrangement, output from flat detector 2a disposed at the position which vehicle passes at first, and output of detector 2d are put into memory 11 by the command given at intervals equal to the period required for one full turn of the wheels, and correlative functions are derived from the output of a reference flat detector and outputs of remaining flat detectors, whereby it is enabled to detect interrelationship between time lag of the outputs and vibration caused by wheels having flat wear.
