Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce creepage field strength by providing a conductive layer at that position in a main insulator layer which corresponds to the location where a field alliviation layer is formed and to the location where the field alliviation layer abuts on a low-resistance corona shield layer.
CONSTITUTION: A conductive layer 8 is provided both in the main insulator layer 5 between a field alliviation layer 7 and a conductor 4 forming a coil and in the main insulator layer 5 between a low-resistance corona shield layer 6 and the conductor 4. The potential of the lauer 8 is forcibly determined by the so-called capacitor voltage division by the electrostatic capacity of that portion of the layer 5 which locates between the conductor 4 and the layer 8 and by the electrostatic capacity of that portion of the layer 5 which locates between the layer 8 and the layer 6, so that the creepage field strength in the layer 7 is reduced. As a result, only the charging curret generated in that portion of the layer 5 which locates between the layer 7 and the layer 8 will flow in the layer 7, so that the current flowing in the layer 7 is recuced.
