Abstract

PURPOSE: Title fibers with good level dyeing properties and high tensile strength and elongation are produced through a direct spin-draw process wherein the yarn, immediately after extruded, is heat drawn while a specific heat history is applied, then taken up at a speed of over 3,000 m/min.
CONSTITUTION: A molten resin of synthetic linear thermoplastic polyester is extruded out of spinneret 1 and solidified by cooling below 80°C with a cooling air stream of over 35°C that is blown from device 2 to form yarn F. After passing guide 3 for combination of yarn dividing and lmulsion finishing. The yarn F is introduced through air-stream separator 4 into first heater 5 where it is heated to 50W100°C in zone H1. Immediately after that, the yarn F is sent into second heater 6 and passed through second heating zone H2 with a positive temperature gradient ranging from the minimum temperature, not lower than 50°C to the maximum one, over 115°C and rising in the yarn-running direction, thus being heat drawn. Then, it is taken up by rollers 8, 9 at a speed of over 3,000 m/min.
