Abstract
PURPOSE: To lighten a drive shaft without lowering the strength of connecting portions thereof, by molding a ring integrally with an inner surface of each opposite ends of a FRP drive shaft, the ring having a polygonal outer peripheral at the joint connecting portion.
CONSTITUTION: A cylindrical mandrel 1 is applied with parting agent and each end thereof is inserted into a ring one end surface of which is polygonal and other end surface of which is circular. Then carbon fibers inpregnated with epoxy resin are wound around the mandrel 1 by filament winding process, a parting film is then wound thereon, and they are heated to cure the resin. Thereafter the product is taken out, the opposite ends thereof are cut into a desired size and worked off.
