Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide a roof console for an automobile, which roof console has lugs between front and rear ends thereof to be engaged by pressure with a part of the automobile, so that the rigidness of the console when fixed to said part can be increased and there will be no backlash. CONSTITUTION:The present roof console 1 consists of an insert 11 of rigid metal plate or synthetic resin and a surface member 12 of soft material. The insert 11 has lugs 11c and lugs 11d both integrally formed with the insert 11, the lugs 11c being capable of engaging by pressure with a part of the car body or a roof rail 2 with a roof lining 5 therebetween, the roof lining 5 spanning between anchoring clicks 11a at a front end of the insert 11 and attaching portions 11b thereof, and the lugs 11d being capable of engaging by pressure with a resting wire 13 resiliently mounted to the car body. When it is desired to attach the roof console 1, each anchoring click 11a is engaged with each notch 4a of a retainer 4 to position the front end and the rear attaching portions 11b are secured to a roof bow 3 by screws.
