Abstract

PURPOSE: To nearly evenly raise the temperature of the entire part of solid electrolyte and improve the output voltage and responsiveness of the sensor by using a bottomed cylindrical body provided with wing form louvers at the bottom as the buffer of the exhaust gas sensor using the detecting pipe of the solid electrolyte.
CONSTITUTION: A buffer 25 is provided on the outside of a density sensing pipe 11 mounted to the plug 9 of the sensor to protect the sensing pipe 11 against the impact of the exhaust gas flow of high temperature and high velocity. A bottomed cylindrical body provided with a multiplicity of exhaust gas lead-in vent holes 26, 27 on its peripheral face and bottom face is used for the abovementioned buffer 25. The vent holes 26 are formed by providing a plurality of U-form louvers comprising bending the mutually adjoining lancing pieces 28 inward in mutually spiral directions, on the peripheral face of the buffer 25. The vent holes 27 are formed to wing form by providing plural sector form louvers 29 being outward in the same direction, on the bottom of the buffer 25.
