Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a surface treating agent having superior degreasing power and capable of treating a metal surface uniformly by adding boric acid or borate and a surfactant to sodium pyrosulfate or potassium pyrosulfate as a principal component.
CONSTITUTION: The surface treating agent is obtd. by adding 0.5W4 wt% of boric acid or a borate and 0.5W4 wt% of an anionic surfactant such as sodium alkylbenzenesulfonate to a 4 wt% aq. soln. of sodium pyrosulfate or potassium pyrosulfate. This agent is applicable to a copper alloy, a zinc alloy, etc. as well as to steel, and little hydrogen brittleness occurs in steel.
