Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce the decrease in the degree of looseness of a cable in a span, by previously compressing stranded steel wire to decrease the width of groove between the elements of the wire.
CONSTITUTION: Before the stranded steel wire 1 is entered into a twisting machine 6, the wire is compressed by a compressing die 9 so that the width of groove between the elements of the wire 1 is decreased. The quantity of stranded aluminium wire 2 partly entered into the groove between the elements of the stranded steel wire 1 is thus reduced. This results in lowering the frictional resistance between these wires 1, 2. Because the increase in the degree of looseness of the cable in the span depends on only the stranded steel wire, said increase in reduced.
