Abstract

PURPOSE: Wire material is continuously and economically provided by material treatment in heating, forming, rolling processes of wire production, effectively eliminating waste time and the difficulty of heavy wire production.
CONSTITUTION: For example, a 300mm diameter metal material 1 is heated to a specified temperature in heating furnace 2, extruded by extrusion-press into a 50mm diameter round bar, and subjected to 12 passes of rolling 4 to produce a 9mm diameter wire. The preceeding press-extrusion in this process eliminates the need of skin peeling, and welding-free process enables heavy-weight coil production. The existing press line is effectively utilized for continuous production without the need of new line. Thus, the production cost is reduced to about half of press- extrusion, or 70 to 80% of rolling process, providing highly economical production system.
