Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide a safety system against outflow of crude oil, which comprises one or more siphon pipes extended between the cargo oil tank and ballast tank and a suction means such as ejector coupled with said siphon pipe on its ballast tank side, whereby out-flow oil can be transferred into the ballast tank, for instance, at the time of stranding of the ship. CONSTITUTION:Siphon pipe 4 is extended between cargo oil tank 2 and ballast tank in the manner it straddles over these two tanks. Stop valve 5 is provided at an intermediate portion of the siphon pipe 4, and further a check valve 6 is provided at the end portion of siphon pipe 4 in ballast tank 3. Upwardly of the check valve 6, there is provided an ejector 8 having outlet pipe 7 opened in ballast tank 3 and connected to suction pipe 9. When accident such as stranding of the ship is caused, driving fluid is supplied to ejector 8 to open stop valve 5, whereby outflow oil is transferred from cargo oil tank 2 into ballast tank 3 by the so-called siphon effect of siphon pipe 4.
