Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the heat transfer characteristic by providing a filter to the coolant inlet of the lower tie-plate in order to keep free from dust.
CONSTITUTION: The nuclear fuel assembly is formed such that a multiplicity of fuel rods 3 is arranged in the form of a lattice with a spacer 4, its upper and lower ends are fixed with the upper and lower tie-plates 8, 1 respectively, and it is put in the channel box 5. The filter 9 is provided to the lower coolant inlet of the lower tie-plate 1. When the coolant flows into the inside of the lower tie-plate 1 through the filter 9, indissoluble substance such as fur in the coolant is removed and a pure coolant is supplied to the surroundings of fuel rods 3. Therefore the attachment of fur to the surface of fuel rods can be reduced, the heat transfer characteristic is effectively held and the formation of oxides coat is suppressed.
