Abstract

PURPOSE: To realize such constitution for the circuit as to fill the companding side for the AD and DA converters with use of the linear DA converters of 5 and 8 bits plus 6 and 8 bits respectively, and thus to reduce of the element accuracy for these converters.
CONSTITUTION: AD converter (a) featuring the polygonal line approximation property of μ=225 companding side 15 is formed with use of linear DA converter 11 and 12 of 5 and 8 bits each, DA converter (b) featuring the similar property is formed with linear DA converter 26 and 27 of 6 and 8 bits each. The positive or negative polarity is decided 2 and 32 for input analog and digital signals 3 and 23, and then the polygonal line section decision is given to the 1st∼8th sections via the 8-bit linear DA converter. And both encoding decoding are given to each of the 1st∼5th sections via converters 11 and 26 to which the external reference voltage is supplied from converter 12 and 27; and the encoding and decoding are given to each of the 6th∼8th sections via converter 12 and 27 respectively.
