Abstract

PURPOSE: To assuredly detect overvoltage on instantaneous stoppage by preventing the excitation of a stationary power converter connected through a choke coil by use of the output of an overvoltage detection means connected with a capacitance in parallel with a power source and through a protective means.
CONSTITUTION: On the output side of a full-wave rectifier 2 connected with a power source 1, there are connected a capacitance 3 and a stationary power converter 5 through a choke coil 4. An overvoltage detection means 11 receives a signal from the capacitance 3; the output of the means 11 is fed to a drive circuit 6 for a thyristor 7 through a protective means 12 which stops the excitation of the converter 5, so as to prevent the operation. Arrangement is provided so that the detection level of the means 11 does not function in normal condition and that the excitation of the converter 5 is stopped only in abnormal condition. Result is absence of erroneous function and assured detection of overvoltage on instantaneous power interruption.
