Abstract

PURPOSE: To eliminate the misjudgement at the low-luminance region for the device which detects the action at each point of the image based on the luminance difference of the video signal by amplifying large the signal of the low-luminance region and narrowing the width of the threshold.
CONSTITUTION: The signal at each point of one frame of the video signal which is supplied via A/D converter 10 and arithmetic circuit 11 is memorized in frame memory circuit 12. Then the signal of each point of the memorized preceding frame is read out via write/read control circuit 14 to be compared with the signal of each point of the frame this time at absolute value arithmetic circuit 19. And the motion of the image is detected at each point based on the difference of the luminance. In such motion detecting device, black extension nonlinear converting means 17 and 18 are provided to increase the low-luminance regions for the signals of both the preceding and present times.
