Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain desired temperature distribution in a quartz glass tube by irradiating heat perpendicularly to the longitudinal direction of an aggregate of furnace chambers and providing partition walls between the reflecting surfaces of the furnace chambers respectively.
CONSTITUTION: In a block shape furnace chamber 1a made of material such as aluminium, a reflecting surface 2 whose crosssectional shape is parabolic is made. This reflecting surface 2 is arranged with its longitudinal direction set perpendicularly to the axial direction of a quartz glass tube 8. And in the furnace chamber 1a, a heat source element 3 which passes through the focus of the reflecting surface 2 is arranged perpendicularly to the axial direction of the quartz glass tube 8. Further, between individual furnace walls, metallic partition walls 6 are provided so that the heat radiation of each furnace chamber may not interfere with other furnace chambers.
