Abstract
PURPOSE: To make possible highly accurate measurement of the flow rate of fluid and enable the correction of the distributions of velocity of flow and the correction of fluid temperature to be readily performed by detecting the noise signals at two positions within a pipeline and obtaining their correlations.
CONSTITUTION: In respective ultrasonic signal receivers 31, 32, the high frequency signals X, Y containing noise signals of the same phase and same amplitude produced owing to the vibrations transmitting in a pipeline 1 and the power source fluctuations of an oscillator 4 are obtained. In a phase demodulator 50, the phase difference of the signals X, Y is detected and in a self-correlator 6, the self-correlation function of the phase difference signal is obtained. Further in a phase demodulator 55, the phase difference of the signal Y from the receiver 32 and the transmission signal from the oscillator 4 is demodulated, by which the temperature of fluid is detected. The outputs of the correlator 6 and demodulator 55 are inputted to a microprocessor μP, where the velocity of fluid is measured. The temperature is indicated in a display device ID 1 and the velocity after correction in a display device ID 2.
