Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable detection of deterioration of lubricating facility of lubricating oil in a speed change gear by constituting same such that a water responsive element is provided in lubricating oil in a speed change section in order to detect that foreign liquid enters into the lubricating oil.
CONSTITUTION: A water responsive element 10 is dipped in lubricating oil 4 and its lead wires are drawn outwardly of the speed change gear. Thus, if foreign liquid enters into the lubricating oil 4, the water responsive element 10 responds to water in the foreign liquid to provide an electric signal outwardly whereby entering of the foreign liquid can be detected. Besides, a magnet 11 is incorporated adjacent to the water responsive element 10 so as to attract thereto powder produced by wear of gears or the like whereby the water responsive element 10 is prevented from being caused to malfunction by such powder.
