Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain γ-corrected luminance signals in all bands by sampling an object image, which is obatined by shifting solid image pickup elements in the horizontal direction by a prescribed quantity, to obtain R-B primary color signals and converting them to dot sequential signals by sampling signals.
CONSTITUTION: Sampling signals PS are supplied to image pickup elements 1G, 1R and 1B, and an object image is subjected to sampling. On a basis of image pickup element 1G, elements 1R and 1B are shifted in the horizontal direction by 1/3 picture element arrangement, namely, pitch γH and 2/3 γH by delay circuits 6R and 6B respectively. These primary color signals are amplified in 8G to 8B and are clamped in 9G to 9B and are converted to dot sequential signals SO of G, R and B by dot sequential pulses PG to PB, which utilize signals PS, dependently upon switching circuits 10G to 10B. Dot sequential signals SO are supplied to process circuit 14 and are subjected to process processings such as γ-correction, and the output is supplied to synchronizing switching circuits 15G to 15B. Synchronized primary color signals are supplied to matrix circuit 16 as they are wide-band, and luminance signal Y and color difference signals R-Y and B-Y which are γ-corrected uniformly are formed.
