Abstract
PURPOSE:To remove metal ions such as metal oxides in an effluent by applying an electric or magnetic field to a liquid passage, or varying the gradient thereof, and causing the effluent to pass through a filter element comprising a porous body or not containing magnetic powder. CONSTITUTION:A nickel layer 7 is formed onto the surface of a foamed polyethylene body 8 so as to give a filter element. A magnetic field is applied by a magnet 5 to the nickel layer 7 in the filter element. At the same time, circuits 9, 10 are circularized by an electric source E so as to give an electric field to the nickel layer. Thus, aluminum colloids and fine iron powder, etc. in an effluent are effectively removed.
