Abstract

PURPOSE: To base material of clad steel plate is partially removed at edge, and protruded clad material is so bent that is covers the exposed base material, thereby providing the plate with neat edge appearance, improved weldability and corrosion resistance.
CONSTITUTION: Clad steel plates to be treated consist of base materials such as carbon steel, low carbon steel, etc., and clad materials such as SUS316L, SUS304, Ti, Ni alloy, etc. In order to remove a part of the base material 1, the edge of the plate may be dipped into mixed acid or dilute sulfuric acid to dissolve the base material, or alternately may be machanically cut in. In the latter case, the edge face of the base material can be made into normal or slanted direction. After the removal of the base material, the clad material is extruded at one side or both sides. The extrusion (s) may be bent or arc welded to cover the base material.
