Abstract

PURPOSE: A wear resistant steel having a high toughness at high temperatures, containing specific amounts of C, Si, Mn, Mo, and Al in addition to Steel component.
CONSTITUTION: The steel contains 0.04 to 0.60 wt% C, 0.08 to 1.70 wt% Si, 0.40 to 0.80 wt% Mn, 0.60 to 2.00 wt% Cr, 0.10 to 0.80 wt% Mo, and 0.20 to 1.00 wt% Al. The steel ingot with the above-mentioned composition is hot rolled into a predetermined shape, and then the rolled steel is treated by heating at a temperature 50 to 60°C higher than Ac3 point to convert its texture into austenite and then subjected to oil hardening, followed by tempering.
USE: The steel is excellent in wear resistance and toughness and thus suitable for the cutting blade of motor grader, the medium and edge blade of bulldozer, etc.
