Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide complete combustion with improved ignitability, by fitting a porous flame hole unit with a combustion heater and fuel conduit to a combustion device, the heter being a self-thermal control type porous ceramic one with positive resistance temperature characteristic.
CONSTITUTION: A flame hole unit 4 having porous foamed metal layers or wire gauzes is fixed tight to an end of a box 1. Liquid fuel enters a fuel conduit 5 fitted above the flame hole unit 4 and is fed in the unit 4. An ignition heater 8, made of porous ceramic and being of self-thermal control type, is fixed directly in front of the flame hole unit 4 and a duct 10 communicated with a blower 9 is also fixed to the other end of the box 1. The ignition heater, composed of non-metal heating material such as silicone carbide, has an advantage of its own natural resistance being changed by temperatures. If the heater is not of a type having a self-thermal control function, a temperature control mechanism is fitted to detect the air temperature heated by the heater and control power to the heater.
