Abstract

PURPOSE: To lighten the concentration of stress of a fitting end portion, by forming a specified taper surface to an outer circumferential surface of a shaft opposite to an inner surface of an end portion of a boss, in a device that connects the shaft and the boss in a close-fit shape.
CONSTITUTION: In a fitting shaft coupling that closely fits a boss 1 and a shaft 2, a taper surface 5 is formed to the fitting end portion C, an outer circumferential surface contacting with an inner surface of an end portion of the boss 1 in the shaft 2. The taper surface 5 is formed in a tapered shape so that the quantity of interference L be reduced with approach to the end portion of the boss 1 before connection, and the width W is selected within a range that high stress is generated at the fitting end portion C. Consequently, when the boss 1 is connected to the shaft 2 an outer circumferential surface of the shaft 2 and the inner surface of the boss 1 are strongly joined by interference, and the taper surface 5 of the shaft 2 and the inner surface of the boss 1 contact under a low surface pressure condition. Thus, the concentration of stress can be lightened because high stress is not generated at the fitting end portion C.
