Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a radioactive waste storage facility which can safely temporarily store radioactive waste by storing the waste in a storage chamber the farthest from a loading work field.
CONSTITUTION: The lateral route 1 of a traverser 3 is extended to a storage chamber 4 from a loading work field 2. The traverser 3 is moved on the rails via drive chain. The waste is loaded on the traverser 3 at the loading work field 2, and the traverser 3 thus loaded is moved to the drive-in passage 8 of the storage chamber 4 to connect then the guide rails connected to the passage 8 on the traverser 3. A conveyor 12 and towing truck 13 are loaded on the rails 10 on the traverser 3. The truck 13 feeds via the truck 13 on the guide rails to the predetermined storage position of the passage 8 to store the load at the storage position via elevationally movable forks.
